Cape Academy’s school library is up and functioning with loads of extra mural activities to offer its children. Bonolo Matjila, Gillian Lucas, Caitlin Williams and I were some of the children that were part of: · Imagination Camp with CLASI · Moot camp with District 6 Homecoming Centre and CLASI · Heritage programme with District 6 The Imagination Camp with CLASI & District 6 was over a period of three days. A few weeks later the museum got into contact with the Library requesting that Cape Academy take part in the Mooting Camp (a 5 day course) which took place on Saturday mornings. It was indeed an educational and eye-opening experience. A few months after that, the museum requested that 3 students from Cape Academy write an essay as to why they would like to take part in that year’s Heritage programme. The programme was to celebrate the stories of untold heroes and the theme of the programme was “From the Shadows into the Light”. We also belong to the FUNDZA literacy trust and participate in the Black History month in collaboration with the US Embassy. Thanks to Mrs van Schalkwyk for making all of this possible - the school has a bright future ahead. |
