School Uniform change in 2023
|
Dear Parents/Guardians
RE: UNIFORM CHANGES FOR 2023
These are the reasons for the change of our school uniform:
1. It was brought to our attention 3 years ago that 2 other schools in a particular area have the exact same tie, grey shirts/pants, and navy-blue blazers.
Many of our learners were identified as other school learners and found this very uncomfortable and unsettling.
2. The current school tie and the school badges do not have our school's name on, and the school could not be identified when representing during
excursions and external events.
3. If our learners remove the school blazer and tie, the school child is not identifiable outside of the school premises.
4. We have had a change in the cohort of learners since 2016, more local learners attend CAMST, and this has led to many of our learners wanting to
stand out when they are representing us.
5. We did not have a consistent and neat sport uniform and our learners were looking untidy during Life Orientation lessons and unidentifiable during
sporting events.
6. The SGB has for 3 years been trying to bring about a visible change to our identity. CAMST is not known in the Southern Suburbs and part of the reasons
are the ones above.
All the above were used to look at the most cost-effective change that would keep within the budget of our parents and bring about a sense of pride and identity to our school.
Changes have been made to the following:
1. The school ties
2. The school badges
3. The girls school skirts
4. Sporting uniform (an adaptation and more breathable one than last year)
The cost of the uniform changes is in the flyers below.
Our Grade 8 learners of 2023 have already been given the opportunity to size and order the sportswear and have been to our suppliers to buy the new uniform.
My appeal is for our Grade 9 and Grade 10 learners of 2023 to be part of this uniform change. This will allow the full GET (Grade 8 and 9 of 2023) to be part of the change in identifying our learners. Grade 10 parents to consider this change as your child starts the FET band and has three years more at CAMST.
If our Grade 11 learners wish to be part of this change in uniform, that decision we will leave with their parents.
The Grade 12's of 2023 are exempt from this change due to it being their last year and other cost involved with Matric jackets and cardigans and ties.
We have outsourced suppliers for the uniforms.
THE SCHOOL UNIFORM FOR CAMST: TIES/ BADGES, SKIRTS AND BLAZERS are available only from TOPPERS UNIFORM in Athlone: I have attached (below) the price list and address of the company.
THE SPORTING UNIFORM FOR CAMST: SIZING CAN BE DONE AT SCHOOL AND PARENTS PAY DIRECTLY VIA EFT TO THE COMPANY. We will collect and distribute to our learners at school. I have attached the price list and banking details of the company.
As the parent, please ensure that you put your child's full name and our school's name on your EFT payments.
PLEASE take a look at the new uniform. We have really looked at the most affordable, durable changes.
Please assist the school in making this wonderful and dynamic change to add to our school culture, ethos and identity.
Your support is greatly appreciated.
Kind regards
Ms. EA Naidu
